We're half way there....whoa NOT livin' on a prayer

The sterilization process has begun. Last week I had the Essure procedure done and now we wait for three months until the test to make sure that nothing can get past the blocked fallopian tubes. I'd like to say that this was a smooth process and that I recommend it to everyone but here's the truth. I recommend it to those of you who have had children and don't want anymore. Those of you who haven't had kids (like me) will feel some serious pain. This procedure should only take 10 minutes or so. I'm pretty sure it took longer but that's not a big deal. The issue. My teeny tiny hardly dilated cervix. I thought I had a high tolerance for pain but it turns out that with that amount of metal, pressure and foreign objects in my vagina, pushing on my cervix and thrusting into my fallopian tubes--I do not have a tolerance for that pain. It makes me think that I'd have been one of those really annoying women giving birth that irritates me. This procedure was right up there with the liver biopsy. As soon as the device and speculum was out, I was fine. I was cramping afterward but didn't even take meds. The next morning I felt great. All in all 15 minutes of pain was worth it.

I'm so happy and relieved that the procedure was done and that very soon I do not have to trouble myself with birth control. I don't regret any of it and would do it again.
