Wrap Up

Wrapping up my old job has been hectic. I think I've covered the things I need to and then up pops another random scenario. You can't teach people all this knowledge I've gained in 13 years in the ticket office. It's impossible. Having to think about what I know and try to translate it is frustrating and it's becoming very clear that I do way too much. What was I thinking being so open to more work?

Tomorrow is my last day in the office and it cannot come and go soon enough. Funny thing is that everyone will be out except one person. Some things never change. I'm thankful I don't have to put up with being the only one around to help everyone anymore.

I am however thoroughly enjoying telling people I cannot help them out with tickets anymore. There's a secret slice of evil joy it brings to my heart. Just in time for the Bruce Springsteen and The E Street Band on-sale. (don't you dare refer to it any other way) This move came just in time.

Monday morning my "we" becomes the marketing department. I can't wait. I'd say that I need to rest up for the big day but sadly I've been going to bed at 9pm these days. Last night I went to bed at 8pm because Chris was watching Lost and I loathe that show now. That and I wasn't feeling so hot. Bed at 8pm, water at 1am, thinking until 2am and then bed until 6am. If I could dance on the ceiling I would. Oh what a feelin'.

I'm thinking Clay Pit tomorrow sounds like a plan. I have to close the office at 6pm so it'd have to be after that. Boo! HH is only until 7pm. Mussels are a callin' my name.

My lunch break is over and I still haven't eaten. Smart.com is my new website. You can find the link at Duh.com.

I want to be at home in that warm bed with all my boys.

Huggies not baby buggies.

Inbamaration

Oh what a glorious day it's been. A new president! I was really excited to be watching this historic moment on television however I'd love to have done so under better circumstances.

My grandfather passed a few days ago and I'm still trying to digest that. I also began suffering from that horrid stomach virus/flu thing going around. My past 24 hours haven't been pretty. The stomach cramps are killer. I had a cracker and maybe a glass of ginger ale in 24 hours. It was terrible. Even chicken noodle soup made me gag. I hope you don't get this nasty bug. I do not recommend it to anyone. Even if you want to lose 5lbs. It's not worth it.

I almost forgot that Buster and Jocko broke into our stash of breakfast bars (in a glass sealed jar) and went to town. I don't know how many they ate but I know that there were dates and chocolate in some of them. What next? Seriously. Getting old!

I'm thinking that with all this sadness and nonsense the week will certainly look up, right?

I hate today.

My 100 year old grandpa passed away this morning at 2am. It was very sad but a relief that he was no longer fighting for every breath. When I saw him yesterday morning he went from stable to seriously compromised lungs. I knew it wouldn't be long but I still wasn't prepared. I guess its hard to be ready for it.

I hope I don't live anywhere near that long.

Bustin' Bruiser Out

My dogs open the door to our garage apartment and let out the dog that lives there. Is that weird? Bruiser is a sweet dog. He's a mix of blue healer and I don't know what but there's a possibility that down the line there's a little basenji. Not important but he's adorable. He's a puppy and keeps the boys active which is great. Buster isn't fond of me paying attention to him but Buster is quite insecure.

The three of them are running around this morning getting rid of some energy when my boys would typically refuse to go outside. I appreciate Bruisers youth at times like these when I don't feel much like walking the dogs. They chase him around until they're hacking up their lungs. My kids have had heart worms and are now middle aged so they're easy to wear out. (Thank goodness.)

Buster chewed up the attachment to the heated blanket we got as a gift recently. Luckily it wasn't plugged in. He loved that thing too. I don't know if he was pissed that it wasn't warm or just bored and loving plastic (and wires).

These kids!

The first rule of marketing is to not talk about marketing.

I got the job! I'm the new Asst Comm & Mktg Mgr for the Erwin Center as of February! I'm so excited I feel nauseous.

First Obama and now this? It's going to be a good year for me. I cannot believe during the worst unemployment in decades I got a new job. I should feel guilty but hey! Someone will get my job, right?

We've got Annie!

Interview number two

I had an interview with the marketing manager yesterday afternoon and it seemed to go well. I was complimented various times on my answers, observations and appearance!

Today I have a second interview with the two other marketing managers. I've known one of them a very long time and she's a sweet gal. The other is a newbie but I really like him. I think I mesh well with men better than women in the work place. Terrible to say but truthful. I think it's because I have higher standards for women than men. You know, because they're my people. The people with ALL the genes.

2.5 hours away from another interview and hopefully one step closer to being an asst marketing manager! Yay. Happiness.

Scanalicious!

Don't ask me to explain the CT's. They're just for show and tell. All I can tell you is that I'm unremarkably the same as I was when they took a piece of my liver to tell me I didn't have cancer. Imagine less body fat when you look at these. Take note of the fact that there are NO BABIES in my uterus. Although it does look like there are some acorns in there. Enjoy! I'm going to the doctor next week for another eval. This means you're no longer able to hound me for ignoring doctors orders. Like THEY know everything. I've seen House. I know what goes on. It's JUST like that. TV doesn't lie.

Interview, Enter View?

My interview is Wednesday afternoon. Now if I can keep my sanity until then! I'm nervous but excited.

Hopefully I'll have news in a week or shortly there after!

Nothing else is happening in my life. Sad, huh?

2009, the year of oddities, i like you

I thought holiday was all about catching up on things that need to be done around the house along with some good old relaxing thrown in. That didn't pan out the way I'd planned. I was working from home and definitely not reading or organizing. I was laying around working and watching a million episodes of House.

Then Brandy came into town and we drank a lot and then lounged even more. It takes way too long to recover from a heavy night of drinking. Then again, it probably wasn't the best idea to drink for 12 hours on NYE. We're smart like that. Thursday was hell. Brandy puked, I didn't but I certainly was in and mostly out of consciousness for NY day. It's a good thing she doesn't live here. We'd be a lot less productive individuals if we lived in the same city.

I did the usual eating too much, cooking and drinking that comes with the holidays and luckily didn't have to travel. Chris' parents came into town the weekend after mas christo. We had a lovely visit with them and caught up on all the haps. It's always nice to be able to share yourself with real adults. You know, parentals. It makes me feel like less of an idiot and more like a real adult.

A few days after my birthday it dawned on me that 31 meant 10 years ago I turned 21. Now that seemed all wrong. 10 years since Bran, Annie and I lived together and laid down tarp after tarp on our living room floor to dance and drink the nights away? How could that be? I guess I'm all grown up. No more partying 4-6 nights a week. No more cute boy marathons. Now I've got a husband, 2 fur kids, an audi, a job, real bills and some how my husband is a police officer. Age happened to me. It's nice. The changes are good. I feel less alone in the world and as if I'm more than little ol' me.

Change is good. Aging is better. Friends are easy to maintain and my lover is forever.
