I thought holiday was all about catching up on things that need to be done around the house along with some good old relaxing thrown in. That didn't pan out the way I'd planned. I was working from home and definitely not reading or organizing. I was laying around working and watching a million episodes of House.
Then Brandy came into town and we drank a lot and then lounged even more. It takes way too long to recover from a heavy night of drinking. Then again, it probably wasn't the best idea to drink for 12 hours on NYE. We're smart like that. Thursday was hell. Brandy puked, I didn't but I certainly was in and mostly out of consciousness for NY day. It's a good thing she doesn't live here. We'd be a lot less productive individuals if we lived in the same city.
I did the usual eating too much, cooking and drinking that comes with the holidays and luckily didn't have to travel. Chris' parents came into town the weekend after mas christo. We had a lovely visit with them and caught up on all the haps. It's always nice to be able to share yourself with real adults. You know, parentals. It makes me feel like less of an idiot and more like a real adult.
A few days after my birthday it dawned on me that 31 meant 10 years ago I turned 21. Now that seemed all wrong. 10 years since Bran, Annie and I lived together and laid down tarp after tarp on our living room floor to dance and drink the nights away? How could that be? I guess I'm all grown up. No more partying 4-6 nights a week. No more cute boy marathons. Now I've got a husband, 2 fur kids, an audi, a job, real bills and some how my husband is a police officer. Age happened to me. It's nice. The changes are good. I feel less alone in the world and as if I'm more than little ol' me.
Change is good. Aging is better. Friends are easy to maintain and my lover is forever.

Ugh. I hadn't thought about the whole decade from 21 thing. What crap.
I'm glad to hear that your holidays went well and that you got to stay in town and have people come to you. Let's get together soon and drink to the lost decade of our youth.
Happy 2009!
